  2. Keep winning and Texas will close strong for 2019 (class is already very good) and you set yourself up for a top 5 2020 class IMO. 2020 guys are already taking notice. Texas is expecting a couple of 5* OOS defenders for the Baylor game in Kelee Ringo and Sav'ell Smalls. I think a couple of recruits the win helped a lot with are a couple of 4* 2020 DL guys in Prince Dorbah and Vernon Broughton. This year was always going to be tough with the Jimbo hire and OU coming off a playoff appearance.

  3. I would think. He is a regular down there. I think he will want to go with his brother. Plus he knows the program very well. I think he is a lock. Gabe Brooks has him 100% on the crystal ball on 24/7. I trust Gabe’s predictions. He knows these Carthage kids very well.

  4. We don’t need rules to control the scoring. If you schedule someone and they hammer you by 60 two years in a row, don’t schedule them again. If they’re in your district, they’re the same size school as you, so start looking at their program and what they’re doing and use it as an opportunity to get better. I don’t think any coach is trying to score 100. If they are, they’re not gonna last long in the profession. We need to stop worrying about kids feelings. It’s a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you get run off the field. It’s life.

  8. From Staff and Wire Reports- Denton TX-While most of the State of Texas was wrapped up in the Red River Rivalry game, a very odd and very important game was being played 170 miles to the Northwest in the town of Wichita Falls that saw back and forth scoring, two ranked teams slugging it out for Lone Star Conference supremacy, a 17 hour half time, and two stadiums hosting two halves of the same Football game. Division II ranked # 9 Texas A&M-Commerce, the defending national champions in Division II, squared off with the only team that beat them last year, 4th ranked Midwestern State. The game was literally seconds away from kicking off before a lightening delay moved the kickoff roughly 35 minutes after the original start time. The Lions struck first on a Kristov Martinez 20 yard field goal, but MSU struck back with an 8 yard Layton Rabb run to take the lead. A&M-Commerce came right back, driving the field 50 yards on 6 plays capped of with a 24 yard touchdown strike from Kane Wilson to Ryan Stokes to take the lead back. MSU countered with a 10 play, 42 yard drive that ended in a Jaron Imbriani 21 yard field goal to knot the score at 10 just before the half. Then, mother nature came to ruin the fun. Right as the Midwestern State Band took the field for their halftime march, another lightening delay was called, and a strong line of severe thunderstorms and flash flooding moved it's way through West Texas. School officials for both squads worked throughout the night to find an arrangement as the initial plan to finish the game on Sunday at 2 PM in Wichita Falls had to be scrapped as the Lion Football team could not find any hotel rooms within an hour drive of Wichita Falls and bad weather still in the forecast for Sunday. Initially, the game was set to be cancelled, until The University of North Texas was contacted. UNT's athletic administration was contacted and put events in motion to be able to host the second half at 2 PM in Denton, about 90 miles southeast of Wichita Falls and 60 miles west of Commerce, Texas. "We are so appreciative to UNT Vice President/Director of Athletics Wren Baker, Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jared Mosley, Coach Seth Littrell and their staffs for graciously allowing us to complete our game under such unique circumstances," stated A&M-Commerce Director of Athletics Tim McMurray. The game picked back up in front of a couple thousand fans in Denton. Midwestern started the scoring on a Vincent Johnson 9 yard run to take the lead back to 17-10 and then Commerce responded with a Martinez 26 yard field goal to pull within 3. After stopping the Mustangs on their next possession, the Lions started their game winning 98 yard touchdown drive that saw Lion QB Kane Wilson 4 yard run to put the Lions up 20-17 with 11 minutes to go. With 8:53 left in the game and Commerce punting, a bad snap sailed over Lion punter Tristen Perry's head and through the back of the end zone, pulling the Mustangs within 1. The Mustangs drove the ball down to the Commerce 30, but had a 46 yard kick blocked, giving the ball back to the Lions, who bled the game clock down to 90 seconds and forcing MSU to use all their timeouts. After a Commerce punt, the Mustangs drove down to the Lion 13 yard line and attempted the game winning field goal, but Mustang kicker Jaron Imbriani's kick was rushed and hooked right as time expired. The 9th ranked Lions are now in the driver's seat in the Lone Star Conference with a 5-1 overall record and a 3-0 LSC Record, while Midwestern drops to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Midwestern State faces Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road next Saturday, while A&M-Commerce hosts arch rival Tarleton State, another undefeated LSC team, in the annual Texas A&M University System President's Cup game on Saturday.

  10. Texas will take a full class and currently have 18 commits. Yesterdays win will definitely help but with the OU game being a “home” game for the sooners this year they got to invite recruits. The Texas staff has did not push for recruits early in the cycle. They went out of state early and had some good success. With in state guys they’ve offered studs but haven’t taken commits from guys they didn’t think fit. The coaching staff thought they’d have a much better team this year and the on field results would bring the in state recruits into the fold. The team is much better than last year, we’ll see if the recruits react the way the coaches hoped.

  16. We all want to see our team dominate every game, but the reality is, that rarely happens. We all want to be cautious regarding Texas, because of the last few seasons. Outside of that, however, there is no argument to be made to say this team is NOT worthy of a Top 10 ranking....today. OU is not the first ranked opponent Texas has beaten this year. They also dominated USC, and TCU. ND struggled to beat Ball State and Vandy OU needed OT to escape Army UCF doesn't play anyone Washington lost to Auburn, and struggled to beat ASU and winless UCLA If there is an argument against Texas in the Top 10, then you can easily make an argument against several others as well. And yes, I'm aware OU is now 11, and not in the Top 10.

  18. Toughest game so far for us no doubt. Looking forward to it though. Win or lose I'm glad we got Carthage first. I know it will be a physical game. Really don't know what to expect score wise. Hopefully an injury free game for both teams.

  19. Texas isn’t going to get the hype and rankings boost they should because they let OU back in the game. If Texas had finished the game like they should have the talk on ESPN and other networks would be about how Texas dominated the game instead of OU coming up just short on a comeback bid. It doesn’t really matter because the teams focus should be just about winning but for us fans it’s a disappointing because we watched the game and saw Texas dominate the #6 team in the country.

  20. Ingram still needs time to develop. I believe he is a stud, but I think he needs a full year and an off-season in the program. Hopefully Dixon is working on graduating early so he can be an early enrollee. I think it helps to go thru the spring if they are going to contribute in the fall their freshman season. Especially kids making a jump from 4a to the B12. Ingram is a very special case. I think he is better than expected. I think most would’ve thought he would RS. Imagine if Ingram would've gone through spring practice.

  21. They won against probably the two worst teams in the district. I would hope they did lol. Once we see them against a team like Poteet and west Mesquite to a certain extent, then we will see what they are made of. They haven’t won against a team with a winning record yet.

  22. I believe the dims have really stepped in it with this shameful confirmation process. Republicans are energized and I believe will turn out in droves to vote this November and in 2020 ... They lost a lot of support from women and independents for trying to wrongfully smear a man of impeccable character ...

  23. If and this is a sedimentary factor,if,you can't take the rigors of football as it it currently played by uil rule 's,there is no sensitivity training courses for stout offenses, then there is always the forfeiture rule. Life as of yet doesn’t have limits to how much you can lose,or how much you can make (win).usually that is up to the individual.should you you take great advantage of your opponents then you are usually judged by your peers and courts of public opinion (smoaky). In the end, football is a training tool for character building and teamwork, something that you may need in real life.life ain't easy and it's filled with adversity and strife at every turn.come on guys and gals, there may come a time in your life where you take a beating and hafta keep gettin up off the mat and keep coming, for some this is all the training they may ever get.not every kid has a great home life and someone to give them everything,Football or some other sport may be the only tool available to them for building the civic and cultural basics needed in the young student athletes future..you win some and lose some but you have to put in the effort and time to get better as in life, you've all most likely taken a 50 or 60 point loss at some point and had to rise up to your feet again, that's referred to as your fortitude and fortitude builds character and character makes the man....

  25. In videos have seen them in wing T, double wing, some shotgun. I think mostly wing T with the QB almost sitting on the ground under center (if I tried that I couldn't get up). Other than Iowa Park who they defeated 14-0 they have been comfortably ahead at half time. And their defense has given up very little to nothing. Their numbers are impressive. Seems they pass for about 100-130yards a game with a high completion percentage. Play action and misdirection all executed very well.l Good sized lines, smart quarterback. They mix it up. They are similar to Gunter in their offensive execution and defensive quickness. Bigger on the lines (most teams are). I get all of this from the freebie video highlights, so it is not like scouting whole games (and I am not a coach or a scout). But they do not appear slow or sloppy that is for sure. Gunter will no doubt be their toughest challenge since the game against Gunter last year, and Holliday will be Gunter's toughest challenge since Newton. Holliday has had this one circled on the schedule since it came out, I am certain.

  32. I run the chains on the sidelines. And when the refs let the other team get away with a lil bit and say look at the score ain't nothing they can do. Like last night we was like they not go let us score again. And they didn't! In the first half the tackle clearly had his arms around one of #4 Smith; well the official had his flag about to throw it then put it back and smiled. HS end up getting a first down. And he clearly saw it was a hold but let them get away with it.

  39. From someone who has had 6 concussions, you don't get a concussion and get cleared the next day. I read where the center was out for a concussion against Garrison. So either the young man didn't have one or he a had a miraculous recovery overnight. And the coach isn't the person who has to clear the player. It's a physician. Sounds to me that the coach didn't want to have his RB take punishment so he sat em out
